Takes a Bite Out of the Big Apple
Group helps athletes grow their
businesses and careers when the cheering stops
(Charlotte, NC) - The National
Business Association (TNBA), a networking organization
consisting of entrepreneurial former and current pro athletes
who’ve entered into business and other select business
professionals, is pleased to announce the kickoff of its New
York chapter March 25 at the world famous Friars Club. Founded
in Charlotte over coffee by a group of three former pro athletes
and one businessman, TNBA has grown to a monthly gathering of
50-60 athletes and other local business owners and reps all
coming together to help each others businesses grow, enjoy
camaraderie and share a meal.
"We've felt
all along that this was a great opportunity for athletes
entering the business world to network in a comfortable
environment of peers and knew it could be a valuable source in
any major league city. We're really excited about the launch of
the New York chapter and hope it's the first of many to come"
said Leonard Wheeler, president of TNBA, Wheeler Enterprises and
an eight year veteran of the NFL who retired from the Carolina
Panthers. “It can be a tough transition going from playing
sports your whole life to being a business owner or executive so
we wanted to create a situation to help the transition and let
them know they’re not alone” continued Wheeler.
Spearheading
the New York chapter is Corey Louchiey, retired from the Buffalo
Bills and now an executive with Sterling Interiors on Park
Avenue. Said Louchiey “"TNBA has played a vital role in my
newfound career and I felt so strongly about the concept I felt
we needed to start a chapter here”.
